VoIP: Must-Have Phone Features
If you’ve heard talk of the latest VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phones, you’ve probably heard that they can save you money on long-distance calls and make it easier for you to connect for less. Sure, low-cost can be a great benefit of VoIP services and it will be a major factor as VoIP continues to grow. That growth, by the way, is on the rise. eMarketer reports:
"About 12.3% of broadband-equipped US households used VoIP to place phone calls over the Internet in 2005, or about 5.2 million residential users. By 2010, this percentage is expected to triple to 38.5% of broadband households, representing about 32.6 million VoIP subscribers." (more on this available on John Arnold's Blog)
But there is so much more to VoIP than low costs. Unfortunately, many VoIP carriers aren’t offering you much more than you would get with any old phone, and some reduce your ability to talk even more than the old basic landline. Even Skype, a VoIP service that grabs a lot of press, is, in their own words, “a little program for making free calls over the internet to anyone else who also has Skype.” OK, great. But what if you’re like most people who want to talk to anyone at anytime? And what if you want a phone that simply let’s you do more?
For the next few Mondays, we’ll highlight the latest, most innovative VoIP features that will separate your phone from the others out there…and yes you can still save money using them. Hopefully, it’ll help you start your week off right.
One Call, Tell All
You’ve probably had those moments when you've had to call several people with the exact same message. It’s time-consuming, a bit redundant, and it can be incredibly annoying (especially if you fail to reach most of the people on your list). It can happen if you’re a coach trying to tell his team that practice is canceled, a director letting a cast know their rehearsal schedule, or when you’re just trying to meet up with your friends for a drink after work. With One Call, Tell All you only have to record a message, and your VoIP service will send the message to everyone in your group – up to 25 people at once. It keeps you connected, and it eliminates the age-old scourge of phone-tag.
At my people, we put the "IP" back in VoIP. We provide one-of-a-kind features that let you get the most out of your phone service. We are always innovating in order to meet our customers’ needs and to make conversations of all kinds a little more fun, a little less expensive, and a lot more effective.
